Sunday Nov 08, 2015

Marc and Shane review the latest Bond film, Spectre, and let you know if it lives up to the legend.
They'll also run you through the week's news, answer listener questions, and this week are offering up another Critic Takedown.
The past few Bond films have split our hosts. Can this one bring things back, or is the Bond franchise moving too far outside its own realm?
As we approach award season, we will also probably be offering up short reviews on smaller films and some of the things we couldn't get to throughout the year.

Burnt Review, News, And More

Saturday Oct 31, 2015

Saturday Oct 31, 2015

Marc and Shane take a look at Burnt, the new Bradley Cooper film about a chef trying to get back in the game after destroying his own career.
Directed by John Wells (The Company Men, August: Osage County), and written by Steven Knight (Seventh Son, Peaky Blinders), the film takes niche to a new level just in its theory. With Cooper on top of his game, can he deliver the world that is a chef going after a third Michelin star in a way that makes for a movie that can interest those who aren't cuisin fanatics?
We'll let you know if this one is worth your time, and we'll give a rundown of the week's news, and more.

Sunday Oct 25, 2015

FilmReview.com host and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review Bill Murray's latest, Rock the Kasbah. The film looks custom-made for Bill Murray just by watching a few seconds of the trailer (and it is), but it also doesn't exactly look like something solidly comedic, or dramatic, so what Bill Murray do we get exactly?
Barry Levinson isn't quite the name he once was, which makes it more difficult to predict what sort of film this will be, and writer Mitch Glazer doesn't help that much.
We'll let you know if this one is worth the trip to the theater.
We'll also give you a rundown of the week's news, answer listener questions, and more.

Sunday Oct 18, 2015

FilmReview.com host and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review Crimson Peak. Guillermo del Toro is back with something that looks especially creepy, but also has an odd, tension build to it, but is it actually worth your time?
Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and Jessica Chastain lead an impressive cast in the haunting tale that wants to offer up a house in a supporting role, and it may well be worth watching just to see them. If you fall for the trailers, it looks as though this could be one of the year's best films, but do they really give you a look at what's coming?
We'll let you know if this one is worth the trip to the theater.
We'll also give you a rundown of the week's news, answer listener questions, and more.

Pan Review

Sunday Oct 11, 2015

Sunday Oct 11, 2015

FilmReview.com host and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review Pan. This one certainly looks intriguing, though taking a classic work and adding a new chapter to the story is always a risky gamble. Joe Wright has certainly worked some interesting titles before, and often by bucking the norms of the cinematic world, but will this version of the classic tale, with flying ships, bizarre landscapes, and Hook as good guy manage to spin a decent yarn?
You'd think this one would be able to wrangle a decent audience just based on being something for younger audiences, but critics haven't been in love so far. Is it worth your time?
We'll also give you a rundown of the week's news, answer listener questions, and more.

The Martian Review

Sunday Oct 04, 2015

Sunday Oct 04, 2015

FilmReview.com host and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review The Martian. Can this one possibly live up to the hype? Can Matt Damon still pull off carrying an entire movie? We'll let you know if this one is worth your time, and how it compares to the popular novel.
Not only on track to easily take over the box office, this one has been getting critical raves. It's unlikely to be a bomb, but is it as good as critics say?
We'll also give you a rundown of the week's news, answer listener questions, and more.

The Intern Review

Sunday Sep 27, 2015

Sunday Sep 27, 2015

FilmReview.com host and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review The Intern. Does De Niro win out in this sappy-looking adventure with Anne Hathaway? We'll let you know if this one is worth your time, and whether or not you need to see it in theaters.
We'll also give you a rundown of the week's news, and more.

Sunday Sep 20, 2015

Marc and Shane review Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and let you know if the series continues in a way that proves relevant. The trailer is a curious creature for this one, largely because it doesn't want to give anything away, so knowing if you want in is even trickier than usual. Do you need to check this one out?
We'll also answer listener questions, share some of the week's news, and maybe even have time for another installment of Critic Takedown.

Sunday Sep 13, 2015

Marc and Shane review The Visit, and let you know if M. Night Shyamalan is finally making a comeback with this found footage horror effort. M. Night has been on a downswing for quite a while, and even if his last few films found a fan or two, he's practically become a joke in the industry. Can he turn things around
We'll also answer listener questions, share some of the week's news, and maybe even have time for another installment of Critic Takedown.

American Ultra Review

Sunday Aug 23, 2015

Sunday Aug 23, 2015

Marc and Shane review American Ultra, and let you know if this quirky Kristen Stewart/Jesse Eisenberg action comedy is worth your time. The trailers really had us looking forward to this one, but was it just good marketing, or is this your next favorite?
We'll also answer listener questions, share some of the week's news, and maybe even have time for another installment of Critic Takedown.
